[HP] How will it end?
DUMBLEDORE IS GAY. I am exceedingly happy, and I laugh heartily at the people who are going 'But this is just a cop-out, she just said it after the fact because she didn't want people to call her a homophobe cause she had no gay characters!'

Dude, DH had so many clues that there was more to his relationship with GG, not to mention Elphias Doge's doting over his memory seemed a bit blinded-by-love-my-sweetheart-was-PERFECT. Even if you didn't pick up on it before, looking back at it with that knowledge it is pretty obvious that that's what she intended at the time she was writing it. And how awesome it is that she didn't just shove something awkwardly into the canon because she felt she had to 'represent'. Yes, their relationship WAS a pivotal part of what made Dumbledore who he was, but the books are told from Harry's perspective. Harry has proven himself fucking BLIND when it comes to noticing relationships right under his nose - why in the hell would he have picked up anything on a relationship from decades prior that Dumbledore seemed ashamed of and hurt by anyway? And the most important parts of the relationship, that it WAS vitally important to him, did come across, so the story didn't really suffer or lessen because of its absence.

Okay, there are a million things I could say about this, but there's my two cents. [gets down off soapbox]

I completely agree with everything you've said. In fact I turned to my husband, who has no idea about anything gay at all ever (you know, apart from me, which he's obviously uncaring about, but still he's fucking clueless) and he goes "Oh my god... it makes so much sense!!"

So yeah. Fuck those people, she's brilliant. I actually really like that she didn't feel the need to say it just to say it. It didn't need saying, it wasn't really that relevant-- just like a million other details in there that she's had to elucidate.

She makes me happy.

For once, the slashers were seeing subtext where there WAS subtext. I feel so validated. XD I'm very happy with how this came out and that she didn't feel the need to make a huge deal out of it or anything. It's so funny that there are people who can't just be happy. The ones who wanted her to make one of the characters gay are now going on and on about how cowardly she is for not having stated it in the books, or pissed that she didn't say any of the other characters were gay (because you know old people have to be asexual.)

Don't get me wrong, I'm still firmly of the belief that Sirius and Remus could have had something going on, and possibly Sirius had some unrequited feelings for James, but I don't necessarily expect her to say that, and if she didn't I wouldn't assume it was because she's a coward. She hasn't backed down from revealing any truths about her characters yet, as far as we know, and she seems pretty certain of who everyone is, whether she tells us all the details or not.

I don't remember what the hell point I was trying to make. XD
